Clifftop homes demolished as Norfolk coastal erosion worsens

Clifftop homes in Norfolk have been demolished as they were at risk of toppling into the sea during high spring tides.

A number of families from Hemsby have been forced to leave their wooden houses - built on sand dunes - because they are just inches away from falling off the cliff to coastal erosion.

It is not the first time that homes in the area have been lost, with seven bungalows demolished in 2018.

Local councillor Noel Galer has warned that the continued erosion of Norfolk’s coastline could cause a “dramatic” decline in the local economy.
