Amazon restocks the Switch 2 bundle on the front-end
Amazon has stock of the Nintendo Switch 2 with Mario Kart World on the front-end! But... it doesn’t seem to let you check out.
Whenever I click on the pre-order button, it seems to take me to an error page. Have a go yourself.
Your nearest Currys might have in-store stock
The second most reliable way is to head into your nearest Currys store. Not every branch will still have pre-orders, however, so you’ll have to cross your fingers and hope.
Find a Currys staff member, beg them to sell you a Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order and go on your merry way. No Amazon glitches to deal with.
You do have to pay the full cost up-front, however, so that’s something to keep in mind.
Where are all the Nintendo Switch 2 consoles?
It’s been more than a week since any major retailers restocked the console following that first wave of Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders at the start of the month.
John Lewis was the only major retailer to drop more consoles last week, and independent games retailer The Game Collection also launched its own limited pre-orders.
Just when I thought stock would become more readily available, it seems to have completely dried up again. At the moment, there are only two semi-reliable ways to get your hands on a Nintendo Switch 2 – and the first one is very unreliable indeed… thanks, Amazon.
How to get a Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order at Amazon
Amazon has been quietly restocking the Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mario Kart World bundle, but it’s not been doing it in the usual way. Rather than updating the product listing with a visible “add to basket” button, Amazon has been dropping small amounts of stock in the background, meaning the main page still shows as out of stock.
The only way to get one at the moment is by using a direct “add to basket” link. This skips the product page entirely and takes you straight to your basket. If stock is available when you click it, the console will appear and you can go ahead and place your order. If it’s not, you’ll see a message saying your basket is empty.
But if you stay on that page and keep refreshing, you could get a pre-order. Stock has been appearing in tiny waves, and if you’re fast enough, the basket will eventually show a quantity of 1 and let you check out.
It’s not guaranteed – but it’s currently the only method that works. Bookmark the link, stay logged in to Amazon and keep checking throughout the day.
Note: The link below might look like it doesn’t work – that’s normal. It won’t “activate” or show anything in your basket until the console comes back into stock. You might also see an error page or get redirected to a blank basket – just keep refreshing and don’t click away.
Nintendo Switch 2 stock – live
Good morning folks!
It’s been a difficult week for anyone hunting down the Nintendo Switch 2. Yesterday, Amazon continued to drop consoles and bundles throughout the day, but it was only accessible via a convoluted back-end trick.
I’ll explain it all again today, but it’s looking like that might be the only method to pre-ordering the console online today. More stock updates, coming right up.
More Switch 2 pre-order tips for Amazon
The Amazon Switch 2 pre-order trick doesn’t just stop at the add-to-basket link. After clicking through, you might land on a page that asks you to select your address, but shows a quantity of zero and an empty basket.
If you sit on this page and keep refreshing, Amazon will often quietly load stock in the background. When it comes back into stock, the quantity will suddenly switch from 0 to 1, and you'll be able to proceed to the checkout.
It’s fiddly and unreliable, but it works. The key is to stay on that page and keep refreshing it until the basket updates.
If you get to the address selection page, but nothing in your basket, don’t click back. Just refresh. And when you spot a quantity of 1, go – fast. And yes, sometimes the link below looks broken, but it often fixes itself when Amazon loads stock internally.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has been coming in and out of stock on Amazon’s internal systems all afternoon. You won’t be able to add it to your basket through the front-end, but the add-to-basket trick still works. It just takes some persistence.

For those trying the Amazon workaround, the bundle has just come back into stock. Give it a few refreshes and see if you get lucky.
More Switch 2 Amazon tips
The frustrating thing about the Amazon workaround is that... it's really temperamental, and stock can go in seconds.
Even if you manage to get the Nintendo Switch 2 into your basket using the direct add-to-basket link, there’s still no guarantee you’ll be able to check out. A few readers have told me they reached the secure checkout page, only to be met with a message saying: “Sorry, the quantity you requested is no longer available. We updated your quantity to the maximum available.”
That maximum is usually zero.
This happens when the console was technically in stock when you clicked the link, but it sold out by the time you got to the payment stage. If you get this message, don’t go back to the listing. Reload the direct add-to-basket link and start refreshing again.
Amazon tends to drop consoles in very small waves, so your best chance is to keep trying, and be ready to check out as fast as you can. It’s not an easy life, this pre-ordering malarkey.
